My intention is to help clients work through psychological challenges by practising acceptance, fostering a sense of agency, and separating from the extreme thoughts and emotions which can overrun our inner worlds. Using a client-centered approach, my role is to create a compassionate environment where self-knowledge and self-love can be achieved through inner exploration. I believe that the best way for individuals to seek resources and recognize the supportive assets available to them is to feel safe experiencing what is happening internally and find compassionate leadership from within. I have worked as a special education teacher for sixteen years with children and youth before becoming a school counsellor, including individuals with various mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions. I am therefore very comfortable engaging with school-aged clients and have extensive psychoeducation experience facilitating social and emotional learning goals.
Are you, or your son or daughter struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or a combination of all of the above? Life is full of challenges, and it is important to have the ability to be flexible and resilient with life’s obstacles so they don’t stop or slow us down from meeting our goals. As your counsellor, I understand life’s stresses and how best to meet them. My objective is to increase your skills and abilities to roll with life’s challenges, increasing your confidence and overall happiness.
I specialize in supporting people with “neurodiverse” challenges - anxiety, ADHD, and autism, by enhancing emotional regulation through combining neurofeedback training with counselling. Neurofeedback trains your brain to regulate itself better. Simply put, when your brain is regulating itself better, you feel better, speeding up your recovery process. My approach improves emotional regulation, communication, and socialization. Building these essential skills results in improved stress management, self confidence, and progress towards your goals.
